This Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea from the Wuyi Mountain National Nature Reserve is carefully crafted by local tea masters with over thirty years of experience, using traditional charcoal roasting techniques.
The tea trees grow on the cliffs of Wuyi Mountain, and in early spring, from a distance, the red young leaves appear like robes draped over the rocks, which is one of the origins of the name "Da Hong Pao" (Big Red Robe).
Other tea varieties that grow in the same unique environment are also known as "Wuyi Rock Teas," as the weathered rock soil imparts a similar flavor to all the teas grown here.
In the spring of 2022, Chinese Tea Group procured Da Hong Pao tea leaves from the core area of the tea region—Tianxin Village. The fresh leaves boast both regional and seasonal quality, and after being low-temperature charcoal roasted multiple times, moisture is minimized while preserving the tea’s essential compounds, giving it the potential to improve with age and develop a more aromatic profile.
Due to limited quantity, and following our traditional teahouse business model, we sell high-quality tea leaves suitable for aging by weight each year, ensuring a steady supply of aged tea.
As a result, we have packaged this batch of Da Hong Pao into our loose-leaf tea sachets series, with each single-serving tea bag containing 8 g—an ideal amount for brewing a traditional gongfu tea session.
This Da Hong Pao Oolong Gongfu Tea Sachets – Charcoal Roasted, after three years of aging, becomes more mellow when brewed using a gaiwan or a clay teapot. It reveals delicate fruity and floral notes, with a smooth, rich flavor that is complex and layered. When brewed at higher temperatures, you can clearly appreciate the “rock essence” of Wuyi tea.
We recommend that you try this series of loose-leaf tea sachets, with a minimum purchase of just three bags. This allows tea lovers around the world to find a tea that suits their personal taste with less risk, while also providing an opportunity to experience a traditional gongfu tea session and deeply appreciate the charm of tea culture.
