2015 Xishuangbanna Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake

This raw Pu-erh (Sheng Pu’er) tea cake comes from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, and was specially crafted in 2015 to commemorate the Year of the Sheep. In Chinese zodiac culture, the sheep symbolizes good fortune, gentleness, and delicacy. The auspicious saying “Three Yang Bring Harmony” represents a smooth and prosperous year ahead.
Just like the gentle and delicate nature of the sheep, these qualities are reflected in the smooth and refined mouthfeel of this tea cake.
Crafted from Huang Pian (Golden Leaves)
This Pu-erh tea cake is made from Huang Pian, also known as 'Golden Leaves'—the most mature leaves of the tea tree. Unlike tender buds, these leaves are of superior quality but require more refined processing techniques to ensure a well-balanced flavor. Compared with young leaves, Huang Pian has:
- A longer growth cycle
- Lower caffeine and polyphenol content
- Higher levels of tea polysaccharides
Pu-erh made from Huang Pian (Golden Leaves) presents its characteristics more directly, making it especially suitable as an entry-level tea for tasting. When young, the tea is gentle in energy; with aging, it develops a richer body and naturally sweet, honey-like notes.
Aged with Care
Our 2015 Xishuangbanna Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake | Year of the Sheep Commemorative Edition has been professionally stored for 10 years, undergoing continuous natural oxidation and fermentation. Over time, it has developed the smooth, full-bodied character typical of teas grown in transitional tropical and subtropical climates.
Transparency and Quality Assurance
You may have tried many raw Pu-erh teas that claim to be made from tender buds, but we choose to clearly state the actual leaf grade of our tea. This not only reflects respect for the customer’s right to know but also demonstrates Chinese Tea Group’s confidence in product quality.
