2020 Yiwu Mahei Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake, authentic Yunnan Pu-erh tea from Mahei Village

This single-origin Pu-erh tea sample offers a focused way to experience the character of Yiwu Mahei without committing to a full cake. It allows you to explore the pure expression of Mahei Village, one of the most representative origins in the Yiwu tea region. Smooth, balanced, and naturally sweet, it reflects the classic aging potential and gentle structure that Yiwu teas are known for.

Origin & Source

This sample is sourced entirely from Mahei Village in the Yiwu tea region of Yunnan. Known for its forest-rich ecosystem and long-standing tea heritage, Mahei is widely regarded as a benchmark village for Yiwu Pu-erh tea character. This tea is produced from a single origin without blending, allowing the natural terroir of Mahei to be clearly expressed in a smaller tasting format. (Like our full cake, this sample comes from previously managed old tea trees and is not labeled as “Ancient Tree Tea” – yet its quality far exceeds ordinary young tree teas.)

Dry Leaf & Flavor Profile

The dry leaves present a tight, well-compressed structure with a clean and stable aroma. A gentle honey-like sweetness is accompanied by soft floral undertones, reflecting its Yiwu origin.

After brewing, the tea liquor is smooth and layered, with a soft yet structured mouthfeel. Natural sweetness appears quickly, followed by a lasting returning sweetness and a light cooling sensation in the throat. Bitterness and astringency remain minimal and well integrated, making this sample easy to understand and approachable even for new Pu-erh drinkers.

Key taste characteristics include:

  • Smooth and soft texture
  • Honey sweetness and floral notes
  • Light fruit undertones
  • Clean, balanced Yiwu character
  • Excellent clarity of single-origin expression

Summary

This 2020 Yiwu Mahei Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake Sample is an ideal introduction to single-origin Pu-erh tea from one of Yiwu’s most respected villages. It offers a clear and honest expression of Mahei’s terroir, making it perfect for tasting, comparison, or first-time exploration before committing to a full cake. Whether for learning or evaluation, it provides a reliable snapshot of Yiwu’s refined and age-worthy tea character.
