Origin & Location
Bingdao Village, located in Mengku Town, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, sits at an altitude of 1,600–2,000 meters and is a renowned high-mountain tea region. Thanks to its exceptional natural environment, Bingdao has long been recognized as a key origin of high-quality Pu’er tea trees. Its superior tea cultivars have also been widely introduced to many other famous tea mountains and villages across Yunnan.
Sustainable Craftsmanship
Thanks to the gifts of the natural environment and the sustainable practices passed down through generations of local tea farmers, Bingdao Pu’er Tea has become a model of ecological Pu’er, admired for its authenticity and quality.
Harvest & Production
In the spring of 2018, we worked closely with local farmers to hand-pick fresh leaves from ancient tea trees over 100 years old. Using traditional craftsmanship, these leaves were pressed into this exclusive batch of Bingdao Ancient Tree Raw Pu’er Tea Cakes.
The tea was naturally stored to allow the young leaves to mature, and it was released in limited annual quantities starting in 2024, following the traditional Pu’er principle of “storing new tea, drinking aged tea.” As its internal compounds gradually transformed, this tea became a rare product, enriched by the passage of time.
Flavor Profile
After seven years of aging, the initial astringency of this 2018 Bing Dao Ancient Tree Raw Pu’er Tea Cake has softened. Thanks to its authentic origin and careful storage, it now offers a balanced and harmonious flavor profile. The liquor is bright and lively, with a smooth, delicate texture and notes of rock sugar sweetness, a refreshing sensation, and an uplifting, lingering aroma.
Fun Fact
In Chinese, “Bingdao” shares the same pronunciation as “Iceland,” which is why many tea enthusiasts also refer to it as “Iceland Pu’er Tea.” Pu’er tea (also spelled pu-erh tea) is a type of fermented tea from Yunnan Province, China, known for its rich flavor and aging potential.
