The 2009 Yiwu Gua Feng Zhai Raw Pu'er Tea Cake (also known as Pu-erh tea) is a premium aged Pu'er tea produced in the southernmost part of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province — the renowned Yiwu Mountain Range.
Guafengzhai village lies in the eastern part of this historic tea-growing region, nestled within a tropical rainforest at elevations between 1,200 and 1,400 meters.
The village enjoys a warm and humid climate year-round, with abundant rainfall and significant temperature differences between day and night. These conditions help nutrients accumulate in the tea leaves, providing an ideal environment for tea trees and creating the unique flavor profile characteristic of Yiwu raw Pu'er.
Tea Cake Features and Specifications
Leaf Quality
This aged raw Pu'er tea cake is made from plump, full leaves, primarily consisting of tender buds, ensuring a rich and delicate tea experience.
Cake Shape & Weight
The tea cake is firm and smooth, with an oily surface, an even shape, slightly loose edges, and a dense center. Each cake weighs approximately 357 grams, which is the traditional standard weight for Pu'er tea.
Packaging (Qizi Bing / Seven Sons Cake)
Pu'er tea is typically bundled into seven cakes per unit, known as a “Qizi Bing” or Seven Sons Cake, with a total weight of around 2.5 kilograms. This packaging style dates back to the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty (1722–1735), when the seven-cake bundle was referred to as “round tea.”
