Long Jing Green Tea (Dragon Well) - Pre-Qingming
Zhejiang • China Tea
Long Jing Green Tea is produced in Longjing Village, situated by West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It has consistently ranked among China's Top Ten Famous Teas and has frequently claimed the number one position.
This tea is widely known as Xihu Longjing (West Lake Dragon Well), renowned for its exceptional quality and reputation.
The fresh leaves harvested in the spring, particularly during the Pre-Qingming period (around mid-March), are especially prized for their superior quality.
As early as the Northern Song Dynasty, the scholar Su Shi praised the spring-harvested Longjing tea in his poetry, writing:
"The tender green, fresh, and lasting spring tea of the Grain Rain season."
This demonstrates the long-held esteem for these early spring harvests.
In the Chinese tea industry, Long Jing is divided into two categories:
The primary distinction lies in geography: while Longjing tea is grown across 18 counties in Zhejiang, the core and most prestigious production area is Hangzhou's West Lake district.
According to industry reports, West Lake Longjing accounts for only 2% of the total Longjing production. As the birthplace of "Longjing," Longjing Village (Dragon Well Village) produces an extremely limited quantity, earning it the reputation of being "more precious than gold."
As a result, authentic West Lake Longjing remains a rare and prized treasure in China.
As a supplier with multiple physical teahouses, Chinese Tea Group has long considered West Lake Longjing an essential green tea. Each spring, our team of tea masters travels to the West Lake origin to personally select the finest leaves.
This Pre-Qingming Longjing Green Tea is sourced directly from this region, representing a premium choice for discerning green tea enthusiasts.
The dry leaves are flat and smooth with a distinctive yellow-green hue.

With a refreshing taste and a lingering, remarkably sweet aftertaste.
In the world of Chinese tea, price and authenticity are intrinsically linked to origin. The further one moves from the core terroir, the larger the yields and the lower the price.
This is because the unique soil, water, and microclimate of the core area give the tea a distinctive flavor that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
Furthermore, tea from these heartlands is nearly always handmade. The scarcity of raw leaves makes machine processing impractical. Only the time-honored, local craftsmanship can fully draw out the essence of the leaves, ensuring the preservation of their pure, traditional character.
