Old Tree Pu-erh Tea (Teng Tiao) is a distinctive variety of Yunnan Pu-erh tea, shaped by the harmonious interplay between its natural growing environment and the craftsmanship of local tea farmers. The name "Teng Tiao" comes from the tea tree's resemblance to long vines. Its branches are slender with fewer leaves, and the trunk and branches are visibly exposed.

2019 Teng Tiao Old Tree Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake

Our 2019 "Teng Tiao Old Tree" Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake is crafted from tea leaves harvested from ancient tea trees approximately 200 years old. These wild tea trees were discovered by tea farmers clearing the land in 2003. The farmers adopted a traditional cultivation method, passed down since the Qing Dynasty, which involves pruning side branches and excess leaves, leaving only the top buds and a few tender leaves. This process allows nutrients to concentrate in the remaining buds, resulting in tea leaves that are fuller, thicker, and richer in texture.

This low-yield, high-quality cultivation method yields tea trees with slender trunks, dense branches, and sparse leaves that sway gracefully in the wind, resembling the elegance of willow trees. For this reason, they are affectionately known as "Dancing Tea."

This tea is harvested in spring, the season when Pu-erh tea reaches its peak quality. After harvesting, the leaves undergo authentic traditional Chinese Pu-erh tea-making techniques, including withering, rolling, sun-drying, roasting, and pressing. These meticulous steps ensure that the natural essence and rich flavors of the tea leaves are perfectly preserved.

After six years of clean storage and aging, this Teng Tiao Pu-erh tea cake gleams with a glossy, oily sheen. When brewed, the tea liquor reveals a golden, bright hue. It offers a soft, sweet taste with remarkable endurance, easily lasting more than ten infusions. The captivating aroma not only delights the senses but also integrates harmoniously into the tea, delivering a layered, complex, and enduring experience.
