This raw Pu-erh tea cake (Sheng Pu'er) comes from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, and was specially crafted in 2015 to commemorate the Year of the Sheep. In the Chinese zodiac, the sheep symbolizes good fortune, kindness, and delicacy. The auspicious saying “Three Yang Bring Harmony” signifies a smooth and prosperous year ahead.
Just like the delicacy of a sheep, this characteristic is reflected in the Pu-erh tea’s smooth mouthfeel.

The tea is made from “Huang Pian” (golden leaves)—the most mature leaves of the tea tree. While not tender buds, these leaves are rich in intrinsic quality and present certain processing challenges. Compared with younger leaves, Huang Pian has a longer growth cycle, lower caffeine and polyphenol content, but higher levels of tea polysaccharides. When young, the tea has gentle energy; with aging, it develops a richer body and naturally sweet notes.
Our 2015 Xishuangbanna Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake | Year of the Sheep Commemorative Edition has been professionally stored for 10 years, undergoing continuous natural oxidation and fermentation. Over time, it has developed a smooth, full-bodied character typical of tea grown in transitional tropical and subtropical climates, complemented by honey-like sweetness. From both professional tasting and personal experience, this is a low-caffeine Pu-erh tea.
Today, this well-preserved commemorative raw Pu-erh (Sheng Pu'er) tea cake is extremely rare on the market. We are delighted to reintroduce this treasured old friend to you—truly a tea worthy of collection and appreciation.
