Like many Pu'er teas (also known as "Pu-erh teas"), Lao Ban Zhang is named after its place of origin in the Menghai tea region of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Renowned for its superior geographical conditions, this area is celebrated for producing raw tea cakes of exceptional quality and classic flavor, earning 'Laobanzhang' the prestigious title of 'First Village of Pu'er Tea.'

2009 Lao Ban Zhang Raw Pu'er Tea Cake

Produced in 2009, our raw Pu'er tea cake hails from this legendary tea region. After 16 years of aging, it releases a distinctive aroma of aged tea. Thanks to optimal storage conditions, the tea leaves are firm, oily, and boast a glossy appearance. The tea soup is rich and mellow, striking a perfect balance between the smoothness of aged tea and the boldness of raw tea. On the palate, it unveils a subtle wild mountain flavor with a complex and layered richness.

In 2012, after discovering this batch of raw Pu'er tea cakes from Lao Ban Zhang in Yunnan, the Chinese Tea Group meticulously selected them for collection.

At the time, many similarly packaged products were popular in the market, but their tea quality varied significantly. Leveraging over 30 years of industry expertise, we meticulously selected this product to ensure superior quality. Our early acquisition allowed us to secure these teas at a lower cost, making them exceptionally cost-effective.
