Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea (also known as Big Red Robe Oolong Tea) is grown in the renowned Wuyi Mountains in northern Fujian, and is celebrated as the "King of Wuyi Rock Tea."
The Wuyi tea region has a history of tea-making that dates back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) and has played a pivotal role in shaping Chinese tea culture. Over centuries, tea-drinking traditions and production techniques have evolved into the modern brewing methods and loose-leaf styles enjoyed today.
Wuyi Mountain is famous for its unique rock teas (Yancha), cultivated in the crevices of rocky cliffs, which give each leaf its distinctive flavor.
Da Hong Pao is one of the most iconic Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea varieties, combining the richness of black tea with the freshness of green tea. It is highly praised for its distinctive “rocky character” and smooth, lingering finish.
Handpicked in the spring of 2019, this Da Hong Pao Wuyi Oolong Tea was handcrafted using traditional methods, fully showcasing the bold aroma and complex flavor typical of Wuyi rock teas.
Heavily roasted (similar to dark-roast coffee), the tea initially carries a pronounced roasted note, which mellows over time into a smoother, more rounded taste, allowing the tea’s deep, layered flavors to emerge fully.
Tea enthusiasts often store new Da Hong Pao and savor aged Wuyi Oolong Tea to explore deeper dimensions of flavor.
Aged Da Hong Pao is gradually consumed or sold, with older vintages becoming increasingly rare; improper storage can compromise quality or even ruin the tea. While new Da Hong Pao is released annually, well-preserved aged Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea is truly rare and highly sought after.
This Da Hong Pao Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea (Big Red Robe) - 2019 Aged has been carefully stored for six years under professional conditions—strictly controlled temperature and humidity, regular ventilation, and multiple rounds of low-temperature roasting.
The result is a smoother, more full-bodied tea with complete, well-preserved flavor. It is perfect for tea lovers seeking an authentic experience of aged Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea.
