Rou Gui tea comes from Wuyi Mountain, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site in Fujian Province, China. It’s a classic variety of Chinese oolong tea. The tea trees grow in red sandy soil formed from weathered rocks. This soil is rich in minerals, well-draining, and slightly acidic, making it perfect for tea plants while also giving the tea its unique "rock essence" (yan cha).
Over 1,200 years ago, Lu Yu wrote in his renowned work, The Classic of Tea: '茶,上者生烂石' (The finest tea grows in weathered rocks). This refers to the unique soil of Wuyi Mountain, shaped by weathered rocks, which creates the ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality tea. Lu Yu’s insight perfectly aligns with the natural environment of Wuyi rock tea.
Five years ago, we discovered and acquired this batch of Classic 'Rou Gui' Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea. The tea leaves are tightly twisted with a glossy, dark appearance. The tea liquor is rich, smooth, and mellow, offering a pronounced, lasting sweetness and an intense, robust aroma.
Over time, the aged fragrance has perfectly blended with the cinnamon aroma, creating a harmonious and exquisite flavor.
